Australian Bullion Reserve 10 Ounce Silver Bar

Discussion & Detection

This bar is not strictly a counterfeit item, however it is potentially deceptive.  The fictitious "Australian Bullion Reserve" company name and ABR logo loosely resemble the legitimate  "Australian Bullion Company" and their ABC logo.  The bar is marked "100 MILLS 999 SILVER" which indicates that the bar is silver plated, but this is sometimes confusing to inexperienced collectors.  Bars such as this one are typically marketed as collectables and sellers will sometimes price them similarly to real silver to further confuse potential buyers.  With only a thin silver plating over a base metal core, these "100 MILLS" products have little to no intrinsic value.
