ROCHESTER, NY - A Rochester man was arrested Monday after federal prosecutors said he sold fake gold collector coins to a man in Pennsylvania.

According to federal attorneys, 32-year-old Timothy Meacham was charged by criminal complaint with fraudulently selling counterfeit coins.

The complaint states that in May, Meacham posted an ad on Craigslist about selling two genuine United States gold collector coins, using a fake name.

Meacham was contacted by a man in Pennsylvania, who traveled up to Rochester on May 15 at which time he purchased the counterfeit coins for $5,000 cash.
