OCEAN VIEW, DE - An Ocean View couple faces charges after police say they sold counterfeit gold bars and coins to Sussex County residents.

Delaware State Police began an investigation Oct. 24 after receiving a report about the sale of counterfeit gold bars and coins over the internet, said Sgt. Richard Bratz of the Delaware State Police.

LEWES, DE - A Lewes couple was arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit gold bars and coins to victims throughout Sussex County, police said Tuesday.

NEW YORK - Counterfeit gold is nearly as old as the precious metal itself. But dealers worry that this year’s powerful spike in gold prices is attracting new crowds looking to profit by peddling fake gold.

At the same time, making and selling counterfeit gold coins and bars has never been easier, industry executives say. The mix of metals has improved the look and feel of fake gold, while online marketplaces such as eBay and Alibaba have made it easier to sell these products world-wide.

FOREST PARK, GA - He came selling Morgan silver dollars, but now Forest Park Police are looking into the sale of counterfeit coins because the dollars weren't silver at all.

Charles Williams, 89, of Riverdale said he was approached by an African American man when he was leaving the Georgia Farmers Market near the airport a couple of days ago.

"He approached me, as I was about to leave, saying he had a good deal for me," said Williams.

ALABAMA - Arrests have been made and more are pending in a multi-agency investigation into the sale of counterfeit gold and silver, the Limestone County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
